While our training is similar, Gretchen's years at the Lancaster County Child Guidance Center left her particularly well trained to deal with the problems of children and adolescents. She is broadly experienced, having done this work for over thirty five years. Gretchen handles the whole range of problems that children and adolescents typically experience, from family and sibling issues, to learning problems, hyperactivity and/or attention deficit. She does whatever it takes, being a familiar figure at school conferences, consulting with teachers, or other social agencies. Gretchen is equally qualified to work with individual adults, children, adolescents, and families.
Bob received a lot of his training courtesy of the Veteran's Administration hospitals. There he worked primarily with adults, covering the full range of problems that would be found in a hospital setting. These problems ranged from serious mental illness, substance abuse and sexual dysfunctions, to issues involving evaluation of psychological problems related to physical disabilities. He also did considerable work with families of veterans, both individually and in group therapy settings.
While working in college settings for seven years, Bob was constantly involved in providing both direct clinical service, and consultation with faculty and student development counselors . These experiences, plus the clinical supervision provided as Director of Community Mental Health in Lenawee County prepared him well to work with older adolescents, adults, and families. He particularly enjoys doing family therapy with couples who are having marital problems.
