GUIDE TO THE RATINGS

Products are grouped by how well they blocked 24 active phishing Web sites. Type includes free add-ons to browsers; browsers with antiphishing features; and components of suites. Under features, checks e-mail links indicates the tool examines e-mail in compatible mail programs for phishing clues. Checks Web sites means they are checked against a list of known risky sites. Warns of bad sites means that it warns of or blocks access to risky sites. Gives a risk assessment means that on suspect sites, it estimates the degree of risk. Can good-list sites means that you can add sites or e-mailers to a list to bypass a future antiphishing check. Some enable you to report sites you suspect to be malicious to the manufacturer.
